Strengthening citizens’ digital rights in Norway and Czechia through DSA implementation
Europe is a global innovator in the regulation of digital platforms such as social networks. However, fragmentation is a serious threat - the existence of many different legal regimes can seriously undermine regulation. That's why we are examining the implementation of a new regulation, the Digital Services Act (DSA), which will also bind the Member States of the European Economic Area.
The Digital Services Act is already in force in the EU and will be fully effective from February 2024. The DSA is currently being examined at the level of the EEA Secretariat with the aim of incorporating the Regulation into the EEA Agreement - when it will also be binding for Norway. In a short whitepaper, we analyze the status of the implementation of the DSA in Norway and assess and the readiness of the Norwegian public administration to implement the DSA. This analysis will serve as a source of expertise from the Norwegian environment for the following advocacy and awareness raising efforts.
